Career
Seven professional clubs and four leagues, from Ligue 2 to La Liga by way of MLS and the Championship.
ES Troyes AC
After his academy years at Clairefontaine, Damien Perquis returned to ES Troyes AC in 2000. He first played for the reserves, CFA runners-up in 2003, before Faruk Hadžibegić gave him his Ligue 2 debut in 2003-04 (27 matches, 1 goal).
In 2004-05 he played 35 league matches, scored twice and was named in the UNFP Ligue 2 Team of the Year. Troyes won promotion to Ligue 1 at the end of the season, but he had already signed for Saint-Étienne.
AS Saint-Étienne
He made his Saint-Étienne debut on 30 July 2005 against Ajaccio and gradually earned a place in the defensive rotation (15 matches in 2005-06).
On 25 February 2007 he headed the opening goal in the 32nd minute at the Parc des Princes as Saint-Étienne beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-0. He finished the season with 19 Ligue 1 appearances.
FC Sochaux-Montbéliard
Loaned to FC Sochaux-Montbéliard on 24 August 2007 with an option to buy, he quickly convinced the club, which took up the option in 2008 and gave him a three-year contract. Moved to centre-back, he became one of the team's leaders, wearing number 24.
His 2010-11 season was the most prolific of his career: five goals in 35 Ligue 1 matches. In March 2012 a broken elbow kept him out, but he returned in time for the Euro. He left after five seasons and 146 Ligue 1 matches.
Real Betis
On 29 August 2012 he signed a three-year contract with Real Betis Balompié. He made his La Liga debut on 22 September 2012 against Espanyol.
On 3 November 2013 in Málaga, an aerial challenge left him with a double fracture of the jaw and kept him out for several weeks. After the club's relegation he extended his contract and helped it bounce back: Betis won the Segunda División in 2015.

Toronto FC
Toronto FC announced his signing on 26 January 2015. He played 25 MLS matches in his first season and helped the club qualify for the play-offs for the first time in its history.
After 37 league matches and two goals, club and player parted ways by mutual consent on 12 July 2016.
Nottingham Forest
On 22 July 2016 he signed a two-year deal with Nottingham Forest, reuniting with his former coach Philippe Montanier. He scored his first Championship goal on 27 August 2016 against Leeds United (3-1).
He played 17 league matches and scored two goals before leaving the club in July 2017.

Gazélec Ajaccio
On 24 July 2017 he joined Gazélec Ajaccio in Ligue 2. He played 42 league matches over two seasons, wearing number 24, until the club's relegation to the Championnat National in 2019.
In June 2020 he announced his retirement as a player. He then joined the coaching staff of Gazélec's reserve team while studying for his coaching licence.
